Iris Simulations' TacPack Powered A-10A "Warthog Driver II" Released!
posted February 28th, 2014

Iris Simulations, today released their ground-breaking (literally) A-10A "Warthog Driver II" - TacPack Edition! The Iris A-10A marks the very first third-party commercial product utilizing VRS TacPack technology, and marks the first of many such products that are either planned or in active development!

“The Hog is Back!”  As promised during 2013, we have revamped the Airforce Series Warthog and added integration with Vertical Reality Simulations TacPack product.  We feel that the A-10 is the perfect accompanying product for the VRS Superbug and the wide variety of ground stores and the massive GAU-8 Avenger cannon make it a powerful ground attack aircraft!

VRS would like to offer our most sincere congratulations to David, Rob, and the rest of the Iris team for updating this marvelous machine with TacPack compatibility! We would also like to thank Iris for standing by us, supporting us, and sharing our dream of bringing our small community closer together through cooperation and collaboration. Things can only get better from here!

Dino Cattaneo Unleashes TacPack Powered
Naval Arsenal!

posted February 6th, 2014

Dino Cattaneo, a very talented and popular freeware aircraft designer, has recently released a slew of TacPack Powered Naval Aircraft for FSX! These are the very first third-party TacPack-powered aircraft! Some of the legendary aircraft available include:

  • Grumman F-14D Tomcat
  • Boeing T-45C Goshawk
  • Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II
  • Lockeed S-3B Viking (coming soon)

TacPack owners can take full advantage of the TacPack weapon and avionic functions Dino has implemented in these legendary aircraft. Of course they can also be flown without the TacPack.

If you like what you see, then please donate to Dino's development fund in order to help him continue his great work. Best of luck with your projects Dino, and thank you so much for supporting the TacPack platform!

TacPack Now Available As Stand-alone Purchase!
posted February 7th, 2014

The Superbug is no longer a prerequisite for purchasing the TacPack! However please note that in order to fully enjoy all the features the TacPack has to offer, VRS strongly recommends using the product with a TacPack-Powered aircraft such as the Superbug. A number of other TacPack powered aircraft are already either completed or in the final stages of development.

In addition, a TacPack/Superbug bundle is now available which will discount the package by $5.00 when purchased together from the VRS store. Sorry, but no retroactive discounts can be offered. This is a limited-time offer, so don't delay!

VRS TacPack is the first true single and multi-player tactical combat modification for Flight Simulator X (consumer use)  and Lockheed Martin® Prepar3D (commercial use). The TacPack is a technology platform and SDK that allows third-party developers to integrate multi-player-capable combat systems.

Lethal Weapons: The TacPack features many tactical enhancements for FSX, but of course the most dramatic attribute of the system are the provisions for accurately modeled, lethal weapon systems for any aircraft that leverages the TacPack SDK.

Hardcore Avionics: While the weapon systems are the TacPack's primary claim to fame, they're far from the only systems the TacPack offers; Aircraft which are TacPack Powered may be designed from the ground-up to utilize TacPack technologies which have never before been available on any FSX aircraft, much less combat aircraft. These include systems like true in-VC video for FLIR and weapon-sensors, HMD support, target padlocking and much much more.

Multiplayer: Designed from the ground-up with multiplayer in mind, the TacPack passes critical combat information such as IFF, RWR and Radar to all players in the session. Up to 8 teams may be created by the TacPack host. In-session assets such as fully synchronized moving carriers with point-defense systems, SAM sites, and more may be deployed by team members. Of course all air warfare systems also work in single-player.

VRS F/A-18E Superbug X is the culmination of almost 6 years of meticulous work and research. Experience the most detailed and accurate simulation of a combat aircraft ever developed for Microsoft Flight Simulator. From avionics to weapon systems, if it's in the real aircraft, it's probably in this simulation!

True Fly-by-Wire: The Superbug is not an ordinary FSX/P3D aircraft; It uses a highly sophisticated Control Augmentation System (CAS) coupled with a 100% custom flight director and autopilot. The CAS fuctions identically to the real aircraft in almost every respect. Release the stick at any attitude and the aircraft can maintain bank angle/flight path angle with no trim required.

State-of-the-art virtual cockpit (VC): In addition to beauty and functionality, the virtual cockpit is designed to allow maximum flexibility in both desktop and hardware cockpit (simpit) use by providing user-configurable levels of detail coupled with the ability to completely hide the VC in favor of a conformal HUD. An extensive array of 2D panels are provided for touchscreen applications.

Unmatched Avionic Simulation: The Superbug does not use "off the shelf" FSX avionics. Every display and function is completely faithful the real aircraft and meticulously recreated from NATOPS flight manuals. TacPack owners will also enjoy additional avionics functionality such as fully-functional weapon and FLIR tactical displays.

Please read applicable system requirements BEFORE purchasing any product! VRS cannot offer refunds based on a failure to read and understand these requirements!
